One developer. One mission. 177 countries.
Today is a milestone I honestly wasn’t sure I would reach when I started this journey just over a year ago. As of today, BloomCycles is officially available in 177 countries on the Apple App Store — and I wanted to take a moment to share the story behind how we got here
It Started With My Girlfriend
Last year my girlfriend’s gynecologist recommended she use a period tracking app to monitor her ovulation cycles. When she showed it to me I did what any developer with 30 years of experience would do — I looked at it and thought I could build something better.
What started as a small personal project quickly grew into something much larger than I ever anticipated. Late nights. Early mornings. Countless hours of coding, testing, and refining. What began as a simple idea became a comprehensive women’s health platform with over 600 features covering every stage of a woman’s life — from first period through menopause.
Built for Every Woman at Every Stage
From the beginning my goal was simple — build something that truly served women rather than exploiting their data. BloomCycles covers five distinct life stages:
Adolescent health for young girls experiencing their first period, with age appropriate educational content and a supportive interface designed with real input from an actual teenager.
Fertility and cycle tracking with AI powered predictions using Apple’s CoreML technology — all processed on your device.
Pregnancy tracking with comprehensive week by week guidance and tools for every trimester.
Postpartum care covering physical recovery, mental health screening, and baby care tracking.
Menopause and perimenopause support — one of the most underserved areas in women’s health technology today.
Privacy That’s Built In — Not Bolted On
One of the things I’m most proud of with BloomCycles is the privacy architecture. In a post Dobbs world where period tracking data has become a genuine legal concern for many women, I made a deliberate decision early in development — privacy would be foundational, not an afterthought.
BloomCycles uses AES-256 encryption, HIPAA compliant architecture, biometric authentication, screenshot prevention, and on device AI processing. Your data stays yours. Always.
One Developer. One Mission.
I want to be transparent about something — BloomCycles was built entirely by one person. No venture capital funding. No team of engineers. Just a software developer who believed women deserved something better and had the skills and determination to try to build it.
I also composed all of the sleep sounds in the app myself, drawing on my background in jazz, classical, and ambient LoFi music. Every element of BloomCycles was created with intention and care.
What Today Means
Releasing BloomCycles to 177 countries means that women in places I’ve never visited, speaking languages I may not know, going through health experiences that BloomCycles was specifically built to support, can now access the app for the first time.
That means everything to me.
We are just getting started. There is much more to come — new features, continued refinements, and a genuine commitment to listening to the women who use this app and letting their voices shape its future.
If you’ve downloaded BloomCycles — thank you. If you haven’t yet — I invite you to try it and see what we’ve built.
Your health matters. Your privacy matters. BloomCycles was built for you.
